Attending the WTM Africa and INDABA conferences

Ashley Shaw, creator of Bootstrap Tourism and owner of LightSpeed, attended the WTM (World Travel Market ) Africa and INDABA conferences in May this year. At these two conferences Ashley built up some business connections and united with some of our long-standing clients.

The WTM Africa was hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). This conference is a meeting place for Africa’s travel industry. It’s a place to learn and build up new business contacts. The 2014 conference offered business opportunities to +/- 4500 tourism professionals.

The INDABA conference was hosted in Durban at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre (Durban ICC) and the Durban Exhibition Centre (DEC). This conference is a place to meet new and existing clients, meet decision makers and learn about new developments in the tourism and travel industry.

Let’s take a look at what Ashley’s been up to at these two conferences…

A place to unite

The conferences offered Ashley the chance to meet with three of our long-standing clients. Each of them are located in African countries and the conferences offered a perfect opportunity to unite with them.

The clients that Ashley met with were as follows:

We provided each of these companies with website solutions for their tourism companies and finally meeting up with them was very exciting.

Connecting new people

In addition to meeting up with some of our long-standing clients, Ashley met up with two companies that will be partnering with LightSpeed, namely NightsBridge and ResRequest.

NightsBridge allows guest houses, B&B’s, and independent hotels to take real-time bookings from their websites. Their service allows guests to check for availability, book their accommodation and then instantly pay online. Our company will be developing a WordPress plugin for their NightsBridge calendar availability function.

ResRequest is a company that provides accommodation suppliers with a software suite that gives them access to a range of modules. These modules include reservations (central and online), property management, customer relationship management and so on. They also provide travel agencies and tour operators access to accommodation rates and software to process reservations. Our company will be developing a WordPress plugin for their booking system that will allow websites using WordPress to use the ResRequest booking system.

Conclusion

The WTM Africa and INDABA conferences gave Ashley the opportunity to learn more about the travel and tourism industry. Additionally, he united with our existing customers and he was able to meet up with two of our latest connections. Other than meeting up with people, he also had the chance to show off our brand new Bootstrap Tourism product to the tourism industry.
